Canadian War Veterans Facility Mini Putt:

Greg, I just wanted to forward a few photos of the accessible mini-putt facility for war veterans here in Ottawa.

The layout was for nine holes with each of the holes named after a particular Canadian battle. We needed the surfaces to be barrier free and then the rough edge of the curb and the green Perfect Putt provided a visual and textural barrier for the more visually impaired people to differentiate the areas of the course. We used a combination of fringe (Pitch and Putt) and green (Perfect Putt) to add the features to the layout. There could not be any dramatic contours like other mini-putts because of the wheelchair needs.

The project went well and the response has been tremendous from the vets, the physiotherapists, the staff, and even the visiting children and families. On a Sunday afternoon it is quite usual to find a visiting family playing a round while the resident of the home is watching from the nearby gazebo. During the week, the therapists are using the facility as an outing for the residents' physical activity. Variety is everything!

“Pro Sport” installed playground turf for a slide / swing /climbing set at our farm. They recommended heavier than standard under padding to provide more safety if a child fell off. The ground was measured and prepared, and under padding and turf were installed in a fast and efficient manner. The result was so realistic and natural looking that friends have to kneel and touch it to believe it is not grass, yet it dries quickly, requires minimum maintenance and has wonderful “bounce” for young children playing.
We had such a good experience with “Pro Sport” that we asked them to install it in an urban garden and we are extremely pleased with the result.

My name is Micah Bernhardt.  I am Director of Baseball Development and Design Coordinator for the Sandlot.  I have played baseball ever since I was old enough to walk, and I still play it to this day.  I have played on every surface imaginable, from skin infields laced with rocks, to the fine cut grass of the MLB Spring Training fields.  When I was asked by Pro Sport Surfaces to test a new style of artificial turf fill, I jumped at the opportunity to play on this new surface.  I spent the better part of a day diving, sliding, running, jumping, hitting, and taking ground balls off of this new surface.  What I found was that this new fill was an incredible leap ahead of the traditional rubber fill.  It was more stable, not shifting below my feet.  The ground balls stayed straight and true.  I didn't’t get that real big rubber like bounce.  You also didn't’t have to deal with the fill shooting up behind the ball, as this new fill stayed tight to the ground.  I had no problems planting and shifting directions when I was running on it, and sliding on it gave the normal feel of sliding on grass.  Overall I was very impressed with the product, and recommend it to all of our Sandlot Academies.
